Be Yourself

Megan, Barbie and our babies!

Some people just inspire you to be yourself.

They see the real you, and even if you wanted to, you couldn't convince them to see otherwise.

They know you mean well, even when you don't stay in touch. Even when you make different life decisions. They know when you're struggling and even in the midst of different schools, churches, cities, groups of local friends- they are still the one who gets you. There's just not a lot of explaining needed. And especially no defending yourself necessary.

There's just so little energy needed. No hurt feelings, because you aren't suspicious of each other's motives. Ever.

When I sat down (in person, yay! Such a rarity!) to ask this friend for advice last night, her response?

"Be yourself."

I mean, I gave her full reign to call me out. Correct me. Tell me I'm doing something wrong, please! Because it will confirm a lie I've been believing.

"You just have to believe that you'll bless at least some one by being yourself."

Isn't that the truth though? I needed to hear that. It tore right through the lie.

Especially looking to the new year. At all the things- the many, many things I'd like to change about myself and how I do life. And how I'd not like to be myself at times.

It is nice to have someone who believes that "yourself" is something unique and worthy.

Because it is (unique and worthy)! Megan, I really can't imagine anyone not appreciating, loving, admiring the genuine person that you are. I'm so thankful for you. Love that picture of us and our babies.

Had to come back and look at that picture of our chunky babies. Why did they have to grow up so fast? And how did they get so skinny?
P.S. you need a new blog header! Send me pics and I'll make one or have Jason update it. I know he's talented too :)
